FAQs

How much does AQUAGOLD cost?
The cost of AQUAGOLD can range from around $500 to $1,000, depending on the size and number of treatment areas tailored specifically to give you the best result. The exact cost of the treatment is based upon the customized additions we add: neurotoxins (Botox), hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm), PRP, peptides, medical grade vitamins (i.e. Vitamin C for brightening, etc.) and more.

Is AQUAGOLD painful?
This amazing treatment is very comfortable! AQUAGOLD uses ultra-fine needles thinner than a human hair, this treatment device is virtually pain-free. At The Medspa @50th, we can also apply a topical numbing cream to further aid in comfort. Patients also have the ability to add on Nitronox (nitrous oxide like at the dentist), if necessary.

How long does AQUAGOLD last?
The results of the AQUAGOLD treatment results can last 3 to 6 months, depending on the specific skin products used.

What is the difference between AQUAGOLD and traditional microneedling?
Traditional microneedling procedures create tiny, controlled injuries that trigger a healing response, stimulating an increase in collagen production. Microneedling allows topical skin care products to penetrate more deeply, and is best for clients looking for more significant improvement of acne scars, pigmentation or deep lines and wrinkles.

In contrast, AQUAGOLD isn’t technically a microneedling procedure, it is more of a “microchanneling facial” or “microfusion facial” that delivers potent ingredients into the channels created by its needles. As the AQUAGOLD needles are thinner than those in most microneedling devices, it can safely treat sensitive areas, such as under the eyes, and the procedure typically does not cause any downtime!

How is AQUAGOLD different from neurotoxin injections like Botox?
Botox can be safely used to treat a variety of concerns including frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and crow's feet. With AQUAGOLD, we are injecting Botox in very small microdoses throughout the face to improve fine lines, contract pores and decrease redness. It will not relax muscles to prevent wrinkles in the same way that Botox is traditionally administered. AQUAGOLD is more of a rejuvenation technique than traditional dermal fillers or neurotoxins. If you are looking to relax wrinkles in addition to improving skin quality, we can treat you with traditional Botox injections at the same time as your AQUAGOLD treatment!

How is AQUAGOLD different from hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers?
While AQUAGOLD uses the same high-quality FDA-approved Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers that we inject to plump lips, lift cheeks, and fill in deep lines, you shouldn’t expect to see the same kind of changes as you would with those applications. When these fillers are injected deeper into the tissues below the skin, they can restore volume. However, with AquaGold, we’re placing the hyaluronic acid in very small microdroplets throughout the skin of the entire face to smooth the actual skin layer. AQUAGOLD allows us to use these effective dermal fillers in a different way to treat different concerns.

You can also use AQUAGOLD in conjunction with the traditional applications of dermal fillers. At The Medspa @50th, you can now restore or add volume in your face with dermal fillers while simultaneously improving skin quality with AQUAGOLD!

Does AQUAGOLD require downtime?
We expect patients to be able to return to normal activities right after the treatment. To allow the serum time to work, avoid washing your face for at least five hours, or until the next morning if possible. We also recommend that you refrain from excessive sweating for 24 hours to help assure the amazing cocktail in your treatment has time to fully absorb and work its magic! As always, wear sunscreen!

How many AQUAGOLD treatments will I need?
Most patients see great results from just one treatment. These results typically last 3 to 6 months. When skin is very dry and wrinkled, we will recommend two or more treatments.

What areas of the body can I treat with AQUAGOLD?
While the most common areas treated with AQUAGOLD are on the face, including the perioral and periocular areas, and the forehead, this amazing treatment can also be applied to the neck, back of hands, and décolleté!

Who is NOT a candidate for the AQUAGOLD treatment?
Most patients can safely receive treatment via this delivery system; however, if you have a bleeding disorder, take blood-thinning medications, or have keloid scars, AQUAGOLD and similar treatments may not be right for you. Contact us for any specific questions you have about whether or not you can safely receive this and other treatments at The Medspa @50th. As with most aesthetics treatments, patients who are pregnant or nursing are not candidates for AQUAGOLD. If you are pregnant or nursing, we do offer a natural, medical grade skincare line which is safe and effective! What's better - we can customize a facial with these products to help pamper your skin, especially through hormonal changes which can cause major changes in your skin.
